Intertainment Endustry: Stalley

Last night, Host of The Playa T That's Me Show "Playa T", Hollywood Chuckie from Hollywood In Da Hood, & I were in downtown Cleveland, OH at the TaVo club with Massillon Ohio's own born and bred rapper Kyle Myricks aka Stalley. Stalley attended Washington High School in Massillon where he played basketball his freshman through senior years. After graduation, he left home to play Division 1 basketball but was injured, a setback that brought him to New York to play for Long Island University. However, after receiving a second injury his athletic plans were derailed and so he changed his focus to a passion he had always had, music.

"In 2008, he connected with Ohio DJ, Terry Urban on the mixtape release "Goin Ape" as well as toured opening for Mos Def. His 2nd project MadStalley: The Autobiography, this brought attention to his transition from small town griot to rap star. He's since worked with brands like Nike, ESPN, 10Deep and Mishka. Currently, Stalley has been working with Creative Control, the media collective associated with Dame Dash, DD172 and fellow rap artist Curren$y. His recent release titled Lincoln Way Nights (Intelligent Trunk Music), he carefully illustrates a typical night out on his popular hometown strip. He's appeared on BET's 106 and Park as a part of the Music Matters campaign and premiered his video for "SLAPP" on the countdown."  Stally, signed with Maybach Music Group some time around April 2011.

He was a nice looking young man with his Rick Ross beard...and although, I would think that someone with a name like Stalley would be a suave fashionisto you know, sounding like "Style-ly" he was far from that persona of him I had built in my head. Not that he was dressed like a raga muffin. He was just down to earth and not flashy at all. He wore a baseball hat that were covered in with buttons like something you would see on a college kid's book bag with a whole lot of different sayings on them. He wore a Army fatigue jacket and just had on a pair of regular jeans. He wasn't flashy at all but to a person outside of the music industry world you might consider the type of fun he had in the V.I.P as a filler for the lack in fashion flash. There was not an unattractive woman behind the ropes of his extra-large V.I.P seating area, the beautiful waiteresses at the TaVo feet had to be hurting by the end of the night with all of the back and forth catering to all the bottle popping of Ciroc, Rosé, and more. People were taking pictures and filming from cameras everywhere. I felt I was in a rap video. The dj D.J. Shonny Mac played various artists from the Maybach Music Group Artists, of course mainly Stalley and Rick Rock however, the song that was request from Stalley himself to be played was Future's "Turn On The Lights". Must be his favorite because D.J. Shonny Mac played it twice for him back to back. I would have guess his favorite song would be one of his own or at least one from one of his labelmates but hey there's no room for hate in the Intertainment Endustry so, it's cool that he supports other artists.

Not only does Stalley promote other artists he was in town promoting his own clothing line Blue Collar Gang. Brought to here by Cleveland Promoter, Budah, Stalley had performed earlier that day in Cleveland's well-known downtown shopping mall Tower City in a store called The Villa, where you can find the hip-hop artist's clothing line. Budah is a promoter who works for the Cleveland Media Center, a Networking Company who is trying to bring a strong pressence to Cleveland. They're located at 1192 East 40th Street off of Lakeside Road close to downtown Cleveland. The young artists is a busy young man because when he's not promoting his music, shows, or clothes...he takes the time to give back to the community. This year on December 6th, Stalley will head New York, to work with the Scholarich Foundation, which currently runs a variety of afterschool programs for students in the East New York section of Brooklyn. The Scholarich Foundation is hosting the fundraiser/book drive for middle school and high school students, in need of books and other educational supplies. The books will also be distributed to juvenile detention facilities around the city, to help promote education to those who have been incarcerated. In addition to Stalley, a variety of local rappers, artists, singers and educators will be on hand during the book drive, which is also being cosponsored by The Source Magazine. I don't see an End to his Industry soooooo... Congratulations Stalley on everything you're doing...everyone out there should really support you...SUPPORT OHIO ARTISTS
